“Fatkini” The Plus-Size Swimsuit

The “fatkini” is a two piece swimsuit for full figured/plus sized women that conceals and reveals. This suits become a hot seller for the upcoming summer season. The newest swimsuit making waves is partially designed by plus-sized blogger Gabi Gregg. “I really wanted to design bikinis that were stylish, young an fresh,” Gregg told ABC News. “I think alot of the swimwear on the market right now for plus sizes is kind of frumpy and matronly and a lot of it is designed to cover us up.”

The suit is selling on the website swimsuitsforall and ranges from size 10 to 24, sending the message to the fashion industry to make more. The majority of women in America are reportedly a size 14 or larger, and it appears there is an untapped market of women waiting to spend their money on something fabulous.

I personally love this swimsuit! Every woman wants something that fits her body, her curves, her style. When you are larger, they are so few and far between. I think it’s a great creation for plus-sized women.

Rihanna’s Mac Lipstick “RiRi Woo”

ImageRiRis collaboration with MAC cosmetics just became a reality! Rihanna’s entire MAC collection will be revealed throughout 2013. On May 2 her first product was released, the RiRi Woo red matte lipstick, inspired by MAC’s cult favorite Ruby Woo.

ImageRiRi Woo lipstick goes for $15 at MACCosmetics.com. It was also available at Rihanna’s concerts at the Brooklyn Barclays Center on May 4 and 5.

On February 20, Riahnna tweeted “That’s right baby, I’m a #MACgal now! Get into it, package designed and products created from scratch by yours truly! Thanks to the EPIC team at #MAC for giving me the opportunity to play and share my favorite sh*t with my fans and yours.”

Rihanna told Womens Wear Daily (WWD)  “When you think of makeup, the brand that pops into your mind — for something legit — is MAC. Whatever color you want, it’s like ‘Let’s go to MAC.’ I’ve been using MAC on tour for such a long time it was a natural fit for me. I have always loved makeup, and I always said that if I do it, I want to do it with a credible brand.”

“Working with MAC, it’s difficult to get a red lipstick that beats Ruby Woo, because it works on every skin tone. I had so many different samples to choose from and so many different colors underneath — blue, yellow, orange and pink bases. And I got to pick one that worked, and I tried it on all my friends to make sure it worked on all of our skin tones.”

White House Correspondents Dinner 2013

This year marked the 98th year of the annual White House Correspondents Dinner. Comedian Conan O’Brien hosts this year’s event, a soiree that dates back to 1920. President Barack Obama joined celebrities, politicians and media figures on April 27th at the Washington Hilton hotel and featured celebrities such as Olivia Munn, Kerry Washington, Katy Perry and Rebel Wilson.

Olivia Munn wore a short sleeve slim-fitting black dress with a neck line full of beautiful silver embellishments. Although the dress was simple, it looked amazing on her.

Kerry Washington wore a long sleeve slim-fitting salmon colored gown designed by Calvin Klein. I absolutely loved this color on her. It a great color for the upcoming spring season!

Katy Perry wore a strapless floor length layered olive green/brown chiffon gown. Around the waste of the dress, there was a bronze-gold abstract belt. This color looked fabulous on her!

Rebel Wilson wore a floor length navy blue quarter-sleeve gown. This dress looked somewhat flattering on her, but was not the best choice.

Overall I noticed the women wearing a lot of bright colored gowns. The men wore neutral color toned tux’s. In my personal opinion, I think everyone looked great and dressed professionally for the occasion.

Pantene Repair & Protect

Pantene Repair & Protect is by far my most favorite shampoo and conditioner. After seeing a television commercial about this product I was very eager to try it. The commercial stated that after 1 use your hair would repair up to 6 months of damage. I’m all about checking reviews before I purchase something, especially if it’s a beauty type product. I was kind of hesitant at first about this product because of the negative reviews it had. I was in desperate need of a good shampoo and conditioner to fix my unhealthy damaged dry blonde hair, so i decided to take a chance and purchase the shampoo conditioner regardless of what the reviews said. I’m so glad I did because I am very satisfied with the outcome of my hair after using this specific Pantene product. As soon as I washed out the shampoo from my hair, I felt a difference in the texture of my hair. It was very smooth, which is very unusual after washing out a shampoo. The conditioner made a huge difference as well, once it was rinsed out I could run my fingers right through my wet hair. Once I blow dried and styled my hair it looked so much better. My hair was very silky and smooth and didn’t have one knot or tangle. The frizizness of my hair seemed to tone down a bit as well.

After falling in love with the repair and protect shampoo and conditioner, I decided I had to try the repair and protect overnight serum. My expectations were very high for this product because the shampoo and conditioner worked so well, but I would not recommend it to anyone. After using it multiple time, I didn’t notice a change at all. It is now sitting in my closet going to waste….very disappointing.

Despite the bad review on the overnight serum, you have to try the shampoo and conditioner it is absolutely AMAZING! You will be happy you did!Image

DIY Tie Dye Swimsuit Cover-up

Can you believe summer is right around the corner! I came across a DIY (Do it Yourself) tie dye swimsuit cover-up that I absolutely love and have yet to try! Everyone could use a little tie dye in their wardrobe!

Supplies Needed:

– A White T-Shirt (One size larger then your actual size)
– Tie Dye Kit
– Needle & Thread

Dying The T-Shirt

Step 1: Pinch your shirt wherever you want the center of your swirl to be.

Step 2: Swirl your shirt around your pinch until it’s compact.

Step 3: Divide your shirt into 6 sections with 3 rubber bands.

Step 4: Squirt your dye in each section.

Step 5: Place shirt in a plastic bag for 8-14 hours.

Step 6: Rinse shirt.

Step 7: Wash your shirt by itself on hot in a large sized load.

Braiding Racer-Back

Step 1: Starting about 1 ½ inches below the bottom of your sleeve, cut one sleeve off of your shirt, creating a U-shape.

Step 2: Use your cut-off sleeve as a pattern to cut off your other sleeve. (Save the sleeves for later)

Step 3: Flip your shirt over so the back is face-up. Cut the back sleeves of your shirt, making the holes bigger only in the back, making a wide racer-back shape.

Step 4: Now, flip your shirt back over and cut off your collar. Cut about 2-inchs off.

Step 5: Flip to the back of the shirt again. Cut a straight line right below your collar, cutting your racer back off.

Step 6: Divide and cut your loose piece of racer back fabric into 3 strips. Tug on the strips to make them longer and easier to braid.

Step 7: Braid your 3 strips all the way to the top. Sew a few stitches at the end of your brad to hold it together.

Step 8: Now take your collar and fold it in half to find the center. Make a small mark where the center of your collar is.

Step 9: Make a few stitches connecting your braid to the center of your collar.

Step 10: Now cut a strip of fabric from one of your cut-off sleeves, about 1 ½ inches wide and 4 inches long.

Step 11: You’re going to use this fabric to cover your stitching. Stitch the end of the strip to the connection, and wrap it around covering your previous stitching. Connect your fabric at the end.

Your swimsuit cover-up is finished!

Spring 2013 Accessory Trends

It didn’t take long for the gladiator sandals to become a big hit, so lets see if this can be said about the emerging gladiator boots. These boots were spotted all over the spring 2013 runways, being carried across within various luxurious reinterpretations and asserting what appears to be another stand-out footwear trend. These boots can be worn with just about anything!

The fold over clutch is slowly being noticed and will be this coming Spring season. Alongside the classic hues of black, white and nude, the fold over clutches are available in a full spectrum of electric colors and bold prints, offering exciting alternatives for both the ultra-elegant, as well as for the wilder and far more eccentric fashion enthusiasts.

For the longest time, fashion had hoods divided into just two fundamental categories: one associated with the sportier aesthetic and the other one associated with religion. But as we are about to leave practicality and beliefs behind, the fashion industry found a new way of making the old appear modern, even appealing again, as one of the micro-trends reviving at the spring 2013 fashion shows had the draping hood take center stage.

What upcoming spring trends will you be wearing?
